The entrance to the castle is surmounted by a beautiful Arc de Triomphe. The Galleria Umberto l, built between 1887 and 1890, has a pleasant atmosphere with its inlaid marble floor and iron and glass covering. The Teatro San Carlo is the oldest in the world and was inaugurated in November 1737. Piazza del Plebiscito is a huge square with neoclassical colonnades and the church of San Francesco di Paola in the center. The National Archaeological Museum is a very important museum of classical archeology and houses mosaics, jewelry, paintings and objects from the excavations of Pompi and Herculaneum. The Egyptian collection, collections of cameos and gems, bronze and marble statues and the Secret Cabinet are just a small part of the treasures of this museum. Naples is easily reachable by train (Circumvesuviana – www.vesuviana.it) from Sorreno. The journey takes 70 minutes and the trains have a regular schedule. By hydrofoil from Sorrento and the journey takes 40 minutes.
